1. Continous Rain

The Victoria Falls Rain Forest is the only place on Earth that it can “rain” 24 hours a day, 7 days a week due to the permanent and powerful spray in the wet season. This continuous spray has created a uniquely fertile environment that is now home to an abundance of flora and fauna species.

2. Naturally Wonderful

Formed over thousands of years by the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls is listed as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World along with the Great Barrier Reef and the Northern Lights.

3. Rainbows at Night

Due to the consistent and powerful spray of the falls, especially during the wet season, a rainbow can often be spotted during the day. However, the true magic of this natural phenomenon is mainly visible during a full moon when a “moonbeam” or night rainbow can be seen.

4. Hidden Pools

When the water levels drop between September and December, the current of the Zambezi slows enough that a small spot overlooking the gorge becomes available for adventurous explorers to enjoy known as the “Devil’s Pool”.

5. Native Naming

Although known to the world simply as Victoria Falls, those native to the area have another name for this incredible feat of nature – “Mosi-oa-tunya’ which translates into “the smoke that thunders” stemming from the deafening roar of the falls.

6. Discovering the Falls

Originally discovered by those who first lived in the area, David Livingston heard tails of a majestic waterfall and is said to be the first European explorer to witness the falls in 1855. Livingston decided to rename “Mosi-oa-tunya” after Queen Victoria.
