Livingstone’s Adventure recently attended a local football match and were incredibly moved by the passion and commitment of one of the teams, the Chundu Stars, and their enthusiastic supporters. After the match they met with Frank Nyambe who formed the Chundu Stars Football Club in 2012. When Frank moved to Simonga Village, he saw the effects of poverty in the area; there were no facilities in the village to keep youngsters active and stimulated, no team they could aspire to join, which led to negative behaviour. By forming the new club, teenagers who were previously bored, worked together to get fit and trained hard for the privilege of making the team. Villagers were united in their fervent support of their side, who with no sponsorship achieved 4th position in the LIDAFA League (Livingstone District Amateur Football Association).
Frank’s passion and dedication inspired Livingstone’s Adventure to support the team, and they became the official sponsor of the Chundu Stars, providing a smart team uniform for the 23 Players and 8 Officials, and also enthusiastically joining the Simonga Village Supporters at their games.
The Chundu Stars aim to end in the top 2 spots of this year’s LIDAFA league. We will keep you updated on their progress.
