The Hollow Hotel group is passionate about the environment and felt the need to support Environmentally Responsible Tourism... In conjunction with Mark Bleloch, the property next door to Hollow on the Square was purchased in 2005 and converted into an energy-efficient and environmentally sound building. The group launched Green Annexe to the public in 2008 and with it’s impressive ‘green’ credentials, the energy wise extension to the Hollow on the Square has proved to be a great success and has set a precedent for hotel design.
The successful Hollow Hotel story started in Hazyview in 1995, when Jack launched the Hollows brand with Hippo Hollow Hotel situated on the banks of the Sabie River. A few years later, in 1998 Knysna Hollow Hotel was open and became a base from which to explore the Garden Route. Still going strong, Jack spread the Hollow Hotels wings to Cape Town, and in 2003 he opened the doors of Cape Town Hollow.
2006 was a big year for the Hollow Hotels, expanding the brand further opening another 2 hotels... The second Hollow Hotel (Hollow on the Square) was opened in Cape Town and Perry’s Bridge Hollow built within the Perry’s Bridge Trading Post was opened.
Casterbridge Hollow Hotel, the first “green” hotel in Mpumalanga, was built as part of the Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre, and opened to the public in 2008, yet another great success in the Hollow Hotel family.
