THE STORY BEHIND OUR LOWVELD ACCOMMODATION
The story of Casterbridge Hollow Hotel dates back to 1995 when Jack Brotherton (founder of the Hollow Hotels) opened the doors of Hippo Hollow Hotel on the banks of the Sabie River in Hazyview. After this hotel proved to be a great success, Jack went on to his next hotel venture and opened Knysna Hollow in 1998.
A few years later, Jack spread the Hollow Hotel wings and branched out into Cape Town, opening Cape Town Hollow Hotel in 2003 and Hollow on the Square in 2006. That same year Perry’s Bridge Hollow in Hazyview opened its doors.
Casterbridge Hollow Hotel, the latest feather in the Hollow Hotel’s cap, is a collaboration between Louis van der Merwe, Jack and Seasons in Africa. Louis, the owner of Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre, had the vision of a hotel to further add to the facilities of the at Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre. The hotel was opened in 2009, and is another great success in the Hollow Hotel family.
FIRST GREEN HOTEL IN MPUMALANGA
The stylish new Casterbridge Hollow Hotel in White River is the first green hotel in Mpumalanga, this a significant first for Mpumalanga will be the green benchmark against which all others will be measured.
To mark the occasion of its opening, Mr JL Mahlangu, MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, was there to cut the ribbon, and applaud those involved for their deep commitment to green principles. Mr Mahlangu honoured the hotel as the newest development to support government initiatives to reduce dependence on coal-generated energy and promote the use of sustainable and green energy. He referred to this initiative as a clear sign of commitment to saving the environment, and a certain hope that the people of the province saw green energy as the future.
