We just spent this past weekend at Madikwe Hills and were enchanted! From the moment we stepped out of our vehicle we were treated like gold and it just continued. The rooms are unique, well laid out and spacious enough to allow space and privacy. Each room has a spectacular view and the little touches in each suite were charming. Everything has been kept natural in keeping with the surrounding trees and boulders and the charming dassies were just the cherry on the top. The game drives were the best we have ever experienced, the Ranger was incredibly knowledgeable and had a quiet sense of humour. He stopped to show my daughter what the different plants in the bush were for and made it interesting for all of us. He made such an effort to find each of our favourite animals and made it look so easy which we knew it was not! The ambiance and friendly smiles and great service make Madikwe a winner all round. Don’t hesitate.... go and visit this charming lodge and see for yourselves.

Having spent the past week at Kings Camp & Leopard Hills Safari lodges (see seperate reports) we just knew this was going to be special. (They are allowned by the same company).

Madikwe Hills is awesome and has been built into the rocks and trees, so eash suite is different. Except they all have those private pools which is brilliant when it’s hot during the day. The suire are simply massive.

Game viewing is very good although leopards are very rare here. BUT we saw Wild Dog which is a real find, and they’re beuatiful too.

Most of the lodges here are new so the game viewing is still quite a new thing too, but there’s loads to see like spooky caves and plains like in Kenya. Quite different than the Kruger Park. And it’s non-malarial which is good if you don;t want to go the Kruger where you need tablets. have fun, we did!

Incredible. This was my first time on safari and it was outstanding. I came with my girlfriends family to celebrate her mum’s birthday, and I don’t feel it could have been any better. First and foremost the lodge itself and the accommodations are stunning. Each room has something different about it that makes it unique (my girlfriend and I had Room 7 - incredible views of the bush). Food was fantastic. Safari was brilliant - we stayed for 4 nights and had 8 safaris. We saw so much wildlife but it never got boring - and this was mostly due to the brilliant safari staff (notably Jacques; Carmen and Lebo). Loved breaking for coffee in the morning and a cold beer in the afternoon whilst on safari! One night we even stumbled upon a Cobra near our room, but as soon as the staff were made aware they made an extra effort to ensure that this didn’t happen again (Franz was awesome - he took us to our room at night in the dark and picked us up in the morning!) The staff made such an effort to make the birthday a brilliant day - champagne at breakfast, singing Happy Birthday in Afrikaans, a great birthday cake. We stayed in the beginning of February 2013, so it was extremely hot at times - but all the more of a reason to take advantage of your own personal plunge pool in your lodge! Would 100% come here again, have recommended it to everyone I know.

Our family of 4 spent 3 nights at Little Madikwe. The villa was beautiful - the living areas were spacious and tastefully decorated, while the outdoor pool and terrace were a welcome retreat midday (esp. when we saw the elephant). The staff were welcoming and attentive, with special kudos to our chef Jeremiah and the resort’s head chef who made a real effort to handle our daughter’s need for gluten free meals. The meals were delicious and beautifully presented. And of course, the real reason for being there, the animal sightings, were great. It being a very lush time of year, we were concerned that the viewing would not be that good, but we saw virtually everything we wanted to, and Nicholas and Johannes were knowledgeable and fun. Missing it already!

ROOM TIP “Little Madikwe is excellent for families or couples who want to have a shared living space in which to get together. It has a very large terrace and pool area, and is very private.”

My wife and I were fortunate enough to honeymoon at Madikwe Hills in January. It is impossible to describe how much we enjoyed our stay. The lodge and lodge staff are amazing, a real credit to tourism in South Africa. Apart from being friendly, professional and exceptionally efficient, they all went the extra mile to ensure that we had an awesome visit.

The wildlife viewing was better than we have ever experienced and our ranger and tracker were both exceedingly knowledgeable and had the ability to interpret what they saw to the guests in a simple, understandable way- a very rare trait indeed.

If you looking for a top class luxury game lodge in South Africa, Madikwe hills in the Madikwe Reserve is a great option.

The rooms are very large and opulent. The room we stayed in had a private pool. Private panoramic views from the rooms(and bathroom) to the reserve. The animals frequent the watering hole. making the time between game drives very pleasant and relaxing. The meals are fantastic, well planned thought out. Game(animals) was spectacular, really enjoyed.

We have just come back having had our second stay at Madikwe Hills. Once again we were totally spoilt and had the most amazing time. The lodge is beautiful with great attention to detail and the rooms are enormous, each having their own is deck and plunge pool. The food is delicious with a good selection of choices and nothing is too much bother. The service is fantastic and all the lovely touches like a lovely candlelit warm bath waiting for you on your return from the evening game drive on the last night were so appreciated. Once again we had Sam as our guide with Johannes as our tracker and they make a great team! They managed to find us everything including several sightings of the wild dogs, white and black rhino, elephants, lionesses and cubs and persevered to track down the 4 cheetah brothers which were amazing to see! We were even lucky enough to see 2 lovely male lion on our last game drive thanks to Sam’s hard work! All the staff at the lodge are wonderful and friendly and really make you feel welcome and go out of their way to make you enjoy your stay. Hannes, the manager clearly has a great relationship with all his staff and this really shows in the service you get at Madikwe Hills. We could not fault anything and had a wonderful time again. The only thing missing was a Leopard sighting, a good reason to go back! Another truly memorable stay and we are already planning our next one! Thank you so much.

Madikwe Hills is definitely something special. The lodge is luxury. The rooms are stunning and with surprises! Each room has its own lounge, heavenly bathroom, splash pool, (outdoor-shower, splash pool) is excellent and there is no-one within sight, very private.

The food is world class, beautifully prepared and with every sitting you are spoiled for choice.

If it is a luxury bush experience you are looking for, this is the ultimate! We stayed 3 days which is the ideal length as you can get in 6 game drives. The really exciting thing about madikwe is the wild dogs. We have been to many game lodges and reserves around South Africa and Botswana and this is only the second time we have seen wild dog. If you are coming to Madikwe and South Africa I would highly recommend Madikwe Hills.

Our stay at Madikwe hills surpassed all previous 5 star experiences. We stayed for three nights and were blown away. Yes it had everything you’d expect from a luxury lodge (great views, beautifully decorated rooms, spa, gym etc) but the one thing that really made our trip was the professional staff and management of the Madikwe hills team. Every staff member smiled and were so friendly, from the charismatic managers (Hannes and Izelle) to the enthusiastic rangers. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and they spoil you beyond belief! Among the numerous sightings were wild dogs, elephants black & white Rhino, lions and a leopard. You simply can not visit Madikwe without experiencing the thrill of Madikwe hills.

Almost forgot to mention that the food were absolutely fantastic as well.

We were fortunate enough to have visited a couple of Madikwe lodges. Each lodge has its own unique charm, some lodges validates return vistis other don’t. Madikwe Hills is definitely on our MUST visit again list. The lodge is absolute luxury. It is nestled in a hill and the way they have used the rocks to form part of the setting is amazing. The rooms are stunning! Each room has its own lounge, splash pool, dressing corner and heavenly bathroom.

The food is world class, beautifully prepared and with every sitting you are spoiled for choice. Starve yourselves a couple of days before as you would not want to miss out on any of the meals.

Dwayne our ranger was great, he shared a lot of his knowledge with a quirky dash of humour, he is very aware of the guests’ likes and dislikes and goes out of his way to accommodate everybody and get the most out of each game drive. Dwayne and tracker Sam make a good team.

Make sure to ask for clear directions at the gate, it is a easy drive but you might feel like you are getting lost as the “direction boards” are not too clear.

If it is a luxury bush experience you are looking for, this is the ultimate!

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights stay. Very high standards and fully met our expectations. Our lodge was decadent and fantastically designed with lots of character and wonderful vista from the very large decking area, which included a plunge pool. Service, and quality of the food was to the same high standards. Jacques our ranger and Samuel his Scout were very knowledgeable and worked hard to ensure that each game drive was interesting, we found the big 5 and more, including cheetahs and wild dogs, which was very exciting. Our first time in Medikwe and we were not disappointed and would recommend a visit - we opted for a road transfer from JNB airport (4hrs) but we would strongly recommend taking a Federal Airlines internal flight and avoid the long drive!

Going on safari was a dream come true. It was so spectacular to see the animals in their natural habitat. We went on 2 game drives a day and saw so many animals. Prides of lions, elephants, zebra, giraffe, kudu, buffalo, rhino, wild dogs and a leopard. Highly recommend this 5 star + safari lodge. The food, the accommodation and service. The guide in the jeep was amazing, so knowledgable and willing to share it. An unforgettable experience.

4 nights in Madikwe hills and 4 days of anmals viewing : prides of loins with cubs, elephants from babies to moody solitaries, wild dogs, hyenas, zebras, all kinds of antelopes, hippos, white rhinos, a python, and many birds. The leopards stayed hidden and the newly arrived cheetas had unfortunately found some thick bushes. The weather was very hot from 9 A-M to around 7 P-M and flies were too many. The suites include the rocks and the terraces offer view of the plain.

The food was really good and the meals outside a lovely moment.

Our ranger Greg and the tracker Lebo could find all the animals even if the leopards preferd to sta away and kept every one quiet when , twice , elephants were rather aggressive.

Hannes and his team are as good as it gets. The welcome and service are exceptional, the food so much better than we had a right to expect and the rooms spacious, stylish clean and quite beautiful. The Reserve is a stunning place and laid on a safari feast for us over five days. We saw so much it is so difficult for the family our favourite moments but the cheetahs the day after release into the wild, the hunting dogs on the hunt, sighting a leopard on the koppie, elephants mating and male lions laying down the law were my personal highlights. Greg and Lebo were absolutely brilliant as our ranger and tracker; their enthusiasm, knowledge and humour helped make it an unforgetable experience. Now back in the UK and already dreaming of a return trip. Magical.

When we arrived at Madikwe Hills we were warmly greeting by the staff and taken to our room. The rooms are large and beautiful, with windows from floor to ceiling overlooking the watering hole. We have been to their sister lodge in the Sabi Sands, Leopard Hills and the feel here is similar - wide open space in the room. Our ranger Sam was excellent. He grew up on the farm that was converted to the game reserve and was a wealth of information about the land, culture and the animals. The really exciting thing about madikwe is the wild dogs. We have been to many game lodges and reserves around South Africa and Botswana and this is only the second time we have seen wild dog. If you are coming to Madikwe I would highly recommend Madikwe Hills.

We stayed at this wonderful place on top of a hill in the extensive and very beautiful Madikwe reserve. Everything was perfect. The very large cabin with separate living, sleepingroom, dressing room and vast bathroom with the best shower I have ever seen (and of course also a bathtub).

The food was excellent and suitable for everyones needs. Great staff and management. Everything is taken care of in a very relaxed and pleasant way.

The safari’s were great with very experienced and friendly rangers. Top!!!

We have visited Africa many times, South Africa provinces the most. Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge is the nicest place we have ever stayed. The lodge is beautifully situate, the rooms are excellent and the service is top. The staff are smiling and very friendly and professional. The management very helpful and flexible. We enjoyed our drives with Sam and Johannes very much, who were an excellent couple. We saw an abundance of animals and birds, from the small rabit to the big herds of beautiful elephants. In between amongst others were the pack of 21 wild dogs, lots of lions, the spotted and brown hyena and last but not least the elusive leopard and many more.

We have never felt so welcome at any other safari lodge or game reserve as we experienced at Madikwe Hills. The host and all the staff are friendly and accommodating whilst still attending to your every need. Our game ranger was very professional and knowledgeable and gave us a very insightful experience on every drive. On our final day, getting ready to depart and say our goodbyes, the wild dogs decided to come and relax at the watering hole in front of our suite, making it extremely tempting to book and stay another night. Madikwe Hills was one of our best experiences to date...

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending this past weekend at Madikwe Hills, and quite simply, we were blown away! They take any pre-conveived notions of what a luxury bush experience can and should be, and exceed it.

Hannes, the owner and manager of Madikwe Hills, runs one of the finest establishments we have ever had the pleasure of visiting. His passion, warmth and generosity extends to each and every member of staff. Particular praise must go out to our tracker and rangers Joahnnes and Sam who were so full of insight into the animals we were seeing as well as provding an endless supply of humour between spottings.

From a surprise birthday cake for my wife, to a romantic candle lit dinner in our room, we were spoilt from the moment we arrived, till the moment we left.

The rooms are palatial, with your own private plunge pool (which was absolutely spotless, despite being in the middle of the bush), indoor and outdoor showers which my wife adored and glass fronted rooms that provide the most magnificent view of the plains below.

Having previously stayed in other lodges within Madikwe as well as the Kruger, I can unequivocally say that this is the ultimate in luxury!

I certainly hope that others enjoy Madiwke Hills as much as we have.

ps: if the rooms dont make you fall in love, the sighting of 2 baby leopards, a couple of lions mating and a pride lionesses with their cubs most certainly will!

This is the nicest place we have ever stayed. The location was beautiful, the staff was extremely attentive, management was flexible and very accommodating to our needs. The game drives were amazing and guides very professional. We saw elephants and other game routinely at the waterhole outside the dining area. The game preserve offered everything we wanted and more in African wildlife - 4 feet away from lions, giraffe, elephant, and lots of rhino, zebra, antelope, leopard, and painted wolves. I highly recommend this location.

We were with a group of relatives for our first time safari with an experienced couple. They had recommended this lodge and it was truly a wonderful trip. The lodge is beautiful and accomadations exceptional for our 5 day stay. The food was excellent and they accommodated our every need. The staff could not have been more helpful and always very polite making our stay perfect. The boma was a great time with local dancers entertaining us with their cultural songs and dance. We had our own guide Greg who showed us every possible experience a bush drive could offer. I would definitely highly recommend this resort to anyone.

we have been to many lodges in madikwe and elsewhere but the attention to detail at this lodge is beyond expectation. The staff are unbelievably helpful and friendly we dont know where they found these amazing people. The food is superb and there is an amazing choice. Our ranger was Jacques and our tracker was Ace. Both were wonderful Jacques went the extra mile and had lots of interesting tit bits to relay to us.

All in all we would defifnitely go back

My husband and I celebrated our silver wedding anniversary at Madikwe Hills, and had a magical experience. Our accommodation was luxurious, with our own private swimming pool, and a spectacular view of the bush. The staff couldn’t have done more to make our stay romantic and memorable. I would definitely recommend Madikwe Hills. The food was delicious, and the game viewing exceptional.

The entire lodge appears to be part of the natural environment. As you wend your way to your breathtaking unit via wooden walkways, you are surrounded by indigenous trees and large boulders with dassies soaking up the sun. You are afforded total privacy on your deck with private splash pool and fantastic viewing of the water hole where a great variety of animals visit daily. The units are spacious, the furnishing is comfortable, practical and elegant and the attention to detail e.g lighting, electrical switches, placement of toiletries, refreshments etc contribute to making this our best bush experience ever. Management and staff were always at hand to see that our every need was provided for. Our guide and tracker were fantastic - professional, experienced knowledgeable and friendly and with their bush nous and some luck we had the best quality sightings of lion, brown hyena and wild dogs.

If you have a mobility impairment like me, prepare yourself for some stairs and a fair deal of walking, but I can assure you it is definitely worth while. We will be returning to Madikwe Hills and I will be taking my mobility scooter and leaving it at the top of the stairs - a few stairs will not stand between me and heaven on earth!

I’ve had a great time staying at the lodge there. Everything was just perfect. Really the best place I’ve been staying at in South Africa (for the lodge and the games I mean)! The staff was very friendly and professionnal and the place really beautiful! It couldn’t have been beter!

I loved the games and the tea-time and apéritif-time during the drives! :-) Our ranger and our tracker were great too! A must-see place in south-africa!

This weekend 12th - 16th July 2012 My Hubby and I hosted 4 couples on a Couples Retreat at Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge. What an amazing experience. The environment was so well suited for couples away from home and the day to day responsibilities to bond. The setting was perfect for the activities we planned for the couples. The staff were AMAZING and catered to every aspect of our needs. The couples attending the retreat raved about the amazing food and well cooked, presented and served dishes. As facilitators being vegetarian our needs were looked after and clearly all the stops taken out to ensure that our stay was memorable and that our Retreat ran smoothly. The Game Drives were fantastic our Ranger Nic, and tracker Max were enthusiastic and catered to our needs and ensured that we all got to see the Big 5. It was great to experience staff that remembered your name and how you liked your hot chocolate to be served when stopping for drinks on the morning Game Drive. Hospitality is clearly a priority for Madikwe and we got to experience that first hand. Oh and guys thanks for the hot water bottles and hand warmers on the early morning Game Drives

We were lucky enough to spend one luxurious night at Little Madikwe at Madikwe Hills. As competition prizewinners we were treated to a stay and meals at this establishment. We were treated like paying guests and no mention was ever made of us winning a prize. The staff were friendly and hospitable.. the perfect amount of class and homey feel... The food prepared by our private chef was good and the evening meal with the other guests in the boma was memorable. We travelled with our 6 month old baby and were happy to see a camp cot made up for him on arrival. The game viewing was awesome... we saw Elephant, Buffalo and hyena right outside our lodgings waterhole and much more on the game drive with our knowledgable guide. The only issue we had was that we were only there for one night. Well done Madikwe.. holding the name of South African tourism high!

We have just returned back from our Honeymoon in South Africa. My wife and I had never been on a holiday here or on a safari holiday.

All we can say is that this place is amazing.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with drinks and within minutes were taken to our room. The room in itself was gorgeous and very spacious. We had our own private pool, a big four poster bed and then went upstairs to our bathroom area. We even had an outdoor bath and shower which over looked the bush. Truely delightful.

All the staff new our names straight away and were great when it came to service and customer care.

Being a vegetarian, and my wife having food allergies we didnt know what we were going to expect food wise. All I can say is that the chefs at Madikwe deserve medals.

I was given at least three options every meal time and they were great at adapting the recipee to suit my wifes needs.

When it came to the game drives, we were so lucky to see the BIG 5 and so much more. Our ranger Jacques and tracker Max did an amazing job in tracking down some great animals and we couldnt believe how close we cold get. We had a stand off with an elephant and one evening three lions walked just inches away from our car. Something I will never forget. We owe a lot to these guys for getting some great photo opportunites.

Overall, the whole place and experience was exceptional and we will most definately be returning in the near future. Just a bit of advise: it does get quite cold in the morning and evenings in the winter season which we were not told about.... so pack warm close.

A fantastic destination not to be missed and a truely remarkable safari experience. The 5* rating is spot on.

Amazing safari experience with huge, beautiful rooms. Exceptional service. Knowledgable and engaging game rangers. Delicious food. Staff go all out to ensure a perfect holiday.

This was our first safari and it was superb. We had done a lot of research prior to booking our trip and we chose Madikwe Hills because of the intimacy (only 12 rooms in the main lodge) and the fact it was Malaria free.

It was beyond our wildest dreams, our ranger Greg and Tracker Max were phenomenal and we were delighted to see so much - including a wild dog chase and kill!

The staff are fantastic - learning our names was a lovely touch and the food was delicious. The most fabulous first safari trip we could have imagined. You must go here - we could not recommend it enough.

I stayed at Madikwe private game lodge during my (European) summer holidays last August 2011 (last week of August), spent four days with my wife and my two kids (6 and 10 YO) at Little Madikwe Hills, little madikwe hills is the private villa for families with personal cooker, server, butler and ranger ! incredible 5* experience surrounded by lovely people ! From food to the animals chase, our ranger Borend, was simply great and we could see any of the existing animals in the game reserve,, even the hard to see Leopard and two times the Lions (luckily after their meal !) elephants many times, rhinos, ostriches, zebras, giraffes, hyenas, etc. so many that I have no time to list them hereby, anyway I strongly recommend this lodge as the best lodge experience in Madikwe.

An absolutely perfect place to have an amazing holiday. We spent six nights here earlier this month and didn’t want to leave!

The location, staff and of course the game really made our stay. Nick our ranger and Max our tracker were great, they were both very knowledgeable and engaging. The game drives were so exciting, this was my first real experience of a game reserve and I can’t wait to return.

This is a truely 5* lodge, we couldn’t have asked for more, the pictures don’t do it justice. The accommodation was stunning, the food was delicious and plentiful and the staff couldn’t do enough for you.

We would recommend you visit, we had a fantastic time and met some great people.

I have visited various game lodges in Africa - and the top two are this one and it’s sister lodge Leopard Hills. The service is brilliant, rooms beautifully done (and huge), great food and importantly the guides and trackers really know their stuff. For most of the time Nick and Max took me on amazing adventures - including wild dog kills, baby lions, herds of elephants, giraffes, rhinos, buffaloes and kudus. I have only just left and already want to plan my next trip there.

I had a great spa treatment from Paula one morning after a morning game drive, other days I worked on my photos, relaxed on my private deck (bit too chilly for the private plunge pool) or sat on the main deck and watched the animals coming to drink at the waterhole.

As I was traveling by myself, I took the flight option on Federal Airlines - a little expensive but the air strip is only 15 minutes from the lodge. You can also drive from Johannesburg in about 4 hours.

We stayed at Madikwe Hills (MH) for 5 nights mid april, for our wedding and honeymoon.

After 24 hrs travelling, it was wonderful to be met with huge smiles, a warm friendly greeting, and a refreshing cool drink. We met Hannes the General Manager and Ezelle (House Manager) which was lovely to be able to put faces to e-mails as we had been e-mailing MH often regarding our wedding arrangements.

MH is wonderfully built around its surrounding environment, decking built around trees and rocks, and even the lounge and bar area has large rocks as part of the setting. It’s lovely to see that things like this were not removed to make way for the lodge as it makes is so much more authentic weaving your way around trees and rocks.

Our suite was No. 1, which was just a few steps away from the main lodge dining area. It was absolutely amazing, you walk through your living room area (complete with mini bar) which was all glass fronted, through to the bedroom with a huge bed (again all glass fronted), and then onto the open plan bathroom which was massive! We had a wonderful deep fill bath which looked out over the plunge pool out across into the bush beyond and you could open all the glass fronted doors up so it was completely open to the fresh air, which was just lovely to have a nice hot soak in and watch the world (and the wildlife) go by.

There were many times we would be sat out on our deck just watching elephants, giraffes and impala walk by to go to the waterhole, it was just wonderful to be relaxing while they brought the safari experience to us.

We found the mattress a little hard for us, but a quick request for a mattress topper was soon actioned.

Also you can call your Ranger for spider removal which we had to do one morning on finding a rather large Baboon spider lurking in our bathroom!

The food is amazing, with tea and muffins before your game drive, even more whilst out on the early game drive, followed by cooked breakfast on your return, then lunch, followed by afternoon tea just prior to your evening game drive, and then back for dinner and a nightcap!

There was so much food and so much choice, I only wish I could have managed to eat more as it was so delicious (but I did have a wedding dress to fit into!).

The lunches and dinners were astounding, both in the choice available to you as well as how many courses you wanted to eat. They included things like duck, beef, as well as ostrich, kudu, kingsclip, eland and much more.

The dishes were amazingly presented, tasted divide and would certainly give some Michelin starred restaurants in London a good thrashing!

Because of wedding arrangements we got to meet a lot more of the staff than perhaps you might generally meet, including Chefs Izanne and Sophy, who did an amazing job of our wedding cake!

Game drives were superb, our Ranger Nicholas and Tracker Max were a fantastic team, making the drives lively, entertaining, informative and most of all fun! Aside from the usual suspects (elephant, lion, giraffe etc) we tracked the Wild Dogs which were amazing to watch and follow, such beautiful animals, we also came across a variety of different insects and even rare birds – we came across a Half collared Kingfisher!

The morning drink stop was coffee or hot chocolate with/without Amarula (with of course!), and the evening sundowners were always in a breathtaking location to watch the sun set (with a fully stocked bar to enjoy as well).

The staff were all superb, the bar and table staff would have a glass of your favourite tipple in your hand before you can say ‘yes please’, and knew your breakfast beverages and toast preferences. They were all so friendly, chatty, polite and efficient; they really helped make you feel part of the MH family so to speak.

For any Bride to be looking for an amazing wedding that will be talked about for years to come, get married here at MH!

The staff will give you your dream wedding without you even knowing what that would be. They have a fabulous location (there are a few to choose from!) looking out over the plains beyond, with a decorated aisle, the most beautiful flowers for my bouquet and table arrangements (I had just asked for proteas with orange/sunset colours) I could never have come up with such a wonderful choice of flowers, they were amazing. Best of all, the MH choir sang traditional wedding songs as I came down the aisle, after the ceremony and also sang on their departure from us. They really made the wedding so emotional and heartfelt, it was incredible, they had such an emotional pull on us both, they were an absolute joy! I am still humming the tunes from my wedding day now! The staff were all brilliant in helping out in every way, from getting me ready, driving us to the site separately (preserving some traditions) and so much more! They did an incredible job, which was far more than we could ever have hoped for. It’s this level of personal service that goes above and beyond, and they made our wedding day truly incredible. You could not plan a wedding better than this yourself, trust me, go to MH and let them astound you.

All in all, the lodge is amazing, the staff will treat you like family, and you will feel part of their family, I felt so torn on leaving it was quite emotional!

It took a long time to save up to go to MH, but it was without a doubt the ultimate safari experience for us, and we definitely felt we had exceptional value for money. We’re planning to save up to go back for an anniversary and see much more of South Africa.

On arrival we were served a welcome drink. Our car was taken and parked in a secure area.

The reception was friendly and our luggage just appeared in our chalet. The room was beautifully decorated and the king sized bed with huge mosquito net just added the Out of Africa luxury. We had our own private pool as well as outside open air shower. The food at breakfast and supper was 5 star. The game ranger had so much expertise and explained all about the veld and game.

This was a wonderful stay and I would return tomorrow. Best safari experience.

My husband and I have been living in South Africa for a year now, and have been on many safaris--maybe 30-some game drives--and Madikwe Hills has been our best experience so far. The rooms were extremely luxurious and private, and the service was more than outstanding. As far as the game, this was our first time getting up-close views of hyena and our first wild dogs sighting. Nick and Max were our wonderful ranger and tracker.

The only thing I’d criticize is that the drive in and out was a little stressful in our little hatchback car. I might consider renting an SUV next time as the road was really, really rough.

But, we’ll be back.

Top marks for this luxury resort!!! The suites are just incredibly spacious and luxurious each with their own private pool, outside area with loungers with great views of the bush - a real retreat to relax and enjoy nature at its best.

We had a 2 night weekend stay and got to experience a fantastic Boma dinner which included an African drumming session, a surprise breakfast in the bush and to top it all - a luxury bubble bath with candles which was prepared for our return after the afternoon game drive. The game drives were amazing and we got to see some of Africa’s Big 5, including a pack of wild dog and Hyhena . The staff are exceptionally obliging and happy to please - especially the chef who was happy to prepare us dishes that weren’t on the menu. A highly recommended great get a way!!

We spent 5 wonderful nights at Madikwe Hills and do not have one single complaint. If you can find a problem, then it lies in you! The staff and service are second to none! The game drives were fantastic and so enjoyable. The food was first rate. As soon as we can go again we will be booking with this lodge again. Thank you so much for a top notch experience!

We had the chance to stay at the Madikwe Hills Private Safari Lodge in March 2012. It was an absolute dream and I would recommend it to every one which wants to stay at a safari lodge in South Africa.

The Hotel is beautiful, the safaris are very interesting, the food is excellent and the people are very, very friendly. On top of it you are in a Malaria Free region ! The overnights are rather expensive but it is worth while (maybe you do something like this only once in a lifetime).
